PERMIKOMNAS Holds Strategic Dialogue with KPI Headquarters on Digital Literacy and Media Convergence

Jakarta – The Central Executive Board (BPP) of PERMIKOMNAS conducted an official audience visit to the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Headquarters as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration in maintaining the broadcasting ecosystem for television and radio in the era of digital platforms, on Monday (February 23, 2026).

The visit served as a forum for institutional engagement as well as a strategic dialogue on strengthening digital literacy, broadcasting supervision, and addressing the challenges of media convergence amid digital transformation.

Chairman of KPI Headquarters, Ubaidillah, welcomed PERMIKOMNAS’ initiative and attention to national broadcasting issues. He emphasized that KPI’s current authority remains limited to the supervision of television and radio broadcast content, while oversight of social media and digital platforms has not yet fully fallen within the Commission’s mandate.

According to him, regulatory disparities between conventional broadcasting media and digital platforms constitute a critical issue that must continue to be addressed within national policy discourse. Revising broadcasting regulations is considered essential to ensure greater adaptability to media convergence and developments in information technology.

Meanwhile, Chairman of PERMIKOMNAS, Fadli, stated that the organization focuses on strengthening students’ digital talent through various concrete programs. These include competency development in cybersecurity, data analysis, software development, and multimedia.

In response to the rise of cybercrime such as online gambling and phishing, PERMIKOMNAS has also initiated preventive efforts by developing an automated bot system capable of blocking online gambling and phishing websites before they operate widely in Indonesia. Fadli explained that this initiative is planned to be implemented in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including the government, once the system is ready.

In addition, PERMIKOMNAS has initiated the Nusantara Digital Literacy Movement, which involves students from various universities as agents of public education to enhance digital awareness and literacy within the community.

Although no full agreement has yet been reached regarding digital media supervision, particularly social media, KPI Commissioner for Broadcast Content Supervision, Aliyah, offered opportunities for PERMIKOMNAS students to participate in the P3SPS School program. This program is expected to provide direct insight into broadcasting regulations and KPI’s supervisory mechanisms.

In response, PERMIKOMNAS proposed the involvement of students in participatory monitoring, strengthening community digital literacy, and developing technology-based models for broadcasting supervision.

The meeting is expected to mark an initial step toward building sustainable synergy between KPI and PERMIKOMNAS in protecting the public from the negative impacts of media content while strengthening digital literacy among the younger generation amid rapid digital transformation.
